Holy Smoke Show on a Stick! I have not blogged since January of this year. I went to my Drafts folder and I have a ton of posts I have started, but life, man… amiright! Are blogs even a thing anymore? I think Vlogging is all the rage now, but don’t get too excited thinking I’m about to sit in front of a camera and document my life. Oh wait! lol To the one person reading this, I thank you! First things first, If you’re not following me on Instagram that is where you can really keep up with a more updated Ashley Murphy Photography – search ashleymurphyphotography… it’s cool, I’ll wait for you go do that, my page is public so you can creep on me even if you don’t follow me, but I kind of hope you add me!
As always I’m short on time, so this blog is going to be short and sweet! I’m going to start with my favorite part of blogs and those are the pictures! Ya know, cause words can be boring sometimes.
For a quick minute I did some Architectural Photography. I think I can use a lot more work in this department, but I enjoyed that my subject wasn’t running around. It was fun and I didn’t totally hate it. I might do more of it in the future. We will see!
I took some photos of the babes in April! My two cuties and my cutie niece. I can’t wait to add to the photo next year! We have a baby boy coming in March of 2018! Don’t faint people! Not me! My sister! MY SISTER is having the baby boy! Also, yes Parker is holding a rock, don’t ask me why.
(my niece, my babe, my babe)
I did dreamy maternity photos of my gorgeous friend and client…
…and also did photos for Ashley’s gorgeous sister, Jessica!
I loved that they were pregnant together!
Of course with maternity photos then come adorable newborn photos! Baby Jack and Baby Brennan came into the world!
(baby Jack and his momma)
and sweet baby Brennan
I did photos for my dear friends Aimee and Ron and their cute puppy family!
The babies kept growing as babies do…
(Jack 3 months)
(Baby Jack 6 months)
((Brennan 3 months)
and I took some photos just for me…
I think every time I write a blog, I mention how hectic and crazy life is and I cannot stress it enough – life is crazy! We make time for what’s important and honestly, I am making time for those two beautiful blue eyed beauties that call me momma. I will blog again soon (shooting for November 2018, just kidding)! Until then, follow me on instagram and facebook to keep up with some of my craziness! XOXO
Hey everyone, my blog is going to be a little different tonight. In the past I’ve focused on photography because after all, this is a blog for photography. I started my business back in 2010 with a simple question asking my husband what it is that I wanted to do with my life and without even knowing it photography became the answer. Throughout the years my business has been whatever I needed it to be at the time. Throughout the years it’s been a hobby away from my actual job, a way to meet new families, opportunities to make a little extra cash or a way to turn my hobby into a full blown career, but the one thing that always held true throughout those years is that I wanted to get better, be better, do better. I wanted to create images that a person could look back on and smile. I wanted to create images that people loved and cherished for a lifetime. That still holds true today.
So, why the blog and why is it called The Change? Well, to be perfectly honest with all of you, I am in need of a business change. Since having my second baby I have slowed down on the amount of photography work I’ll take on. I was scared, hesitant and not sure if I would have time to dedicate to anyone else’s family if I was putting my family first. Thankfully, things have settled down a bit and I feel like I’m finally adjusting to my family of four.
“You must be the change you wish to see in the world.” – Mahatma Gandhi
If you have read some of my previous blogs I’ve experienced a lot of self-growth within the last year. I have reflected, I learned and I have changed in all areas of my life. I became the change I wanted to see in the world and because of that I have a new fire and love for this business.
Thank you for all the people that read these blogs, that like my photos on facebook, that book the sessions and refer me to their friends and family. In a moment of reflection, I thank you for your support. I have a new fire to get better, be better, do better. Stick around and see the new changes coming.
Hello all you beautiful people! We are in week three of the photo challenge! If you’re doing the challenge with me, how are you doing so far? I hope by this week you really feel the creative flow starting to work in you. I know it is for me. I’ve been really pushing myself to be a little more mindful of how I’m shooting and what I’m shooting.
December 14 – Christmas Tree
The week started out with Christmas tree. I love me some bokeh! I feel like I’ve already taken a 100 photos of my tree for this challenge and wanted to do something a little different. I love the way this photo turned out.
December 15 – Favorite Holiday Song
Put on your judging hats because I can’t help but absolutely love Mariah Carey’s, All I Want for Christmas. Ahh, every time it comes on the radio or plays on my phone, I seriously have to get up and dance. I’ve even got my pointer fingers ready when she starts singing “IS YOU!” I think I’m going to play it right now. I just LOVE that song. Oh and the Eagles version of Bells Will Be Ringing. If you haven’t heard of either one (you would be living under a rock, I’m not here to judge) go take a listen!
December 16 – Outside Christmas Lights
On the To-Do list is to take the girls to go see the Christmas lights by where we live. The hubs and I took Parker last year and it was just magical. I can’t wait to share that again with both my girls. This year we only have our tree wrapped up with lights, two very cute Christmas trees and a huge Reindeer in our front yard because when we first moved into our house I BEGGED my husband to put lights up on our house. Our house has a very high roof line and even with an extension ladder and his six foot frame, he was still reaching up on his tip toes to put lights on the roof. He’s not scared of heights, but he did tell me that he will never do that again, so I have to settle for decorating our yard because you wouldn’t catch me up on an extension ladder with the wind whipping the way it does around here.
December 17 – Presents
Presents. Self explanatory. Pretty bows. Pretty paper.
December 18 – Stockings
I love my fire place. I love my funky stockings!
December 19 – Candy Cane
Candy canes are one of those candies I never think about eating. I don’t really crave candy canes like I crave chocolate, but I can’t put them down when I do have some. Of course, with all the kids presents always come candy canes, but this year I found myself eating more of the candy canes than I set aside for other people. Oh well, they were delicious with my hot chocolate. Don’t judge! My official weight loss starts in January… because I’m not ready to say good bye to my fluff. ha! Totally kidding! I’m ready to be back to my pre baby weight, but life is short and so I’m going to eat the candy cane.
December 20 – Tree Topper
I know, this one is a little bland. I’m tired. It’s late. I did what the theme was, so don’t hate!
Keep up with me as we get closer to the end of this challenge! XO!
Hello there! Here we are week two into the photo challenge! The week started out with BRIGHT!
December 7 – Bright
The weather has been unusually hot, but gorgeous lately! Having 80 degree weather in December just doesn’t seem right, but here we are! I’m so thankful the cold front has finally pushed through, but Monday’s theme was bright. I was trying to take a picture of just the sun flare, but I was photo bombed by the dog. She was cute enough to stay in this photo.
December 8 – Ornaments
Why oh, why did I choose to take a picture of my Tweety Bird ornaments?! Every year my dad gets me an ornament. I either get a Tweety bird, a hippo, or The Little Mermaid. If you’re doing the math, that’s 30 years of ornaments. 30 years of Tweety Birds and as much as I love them, there is a part of me that feels like I should sometimes have a grown up Christmas tree. The other day I told my dad “NO more hippos!” It’s the Hippopotamus ornament that sings, “I want a hippopotamus for Christmas, only a hippopotamus will do…” and I said it out of sheer annoyance because my three year old kept pressing the buttons every few seconds and playing all three of them at the same time. NO MORE DAD! Then I started to feel sad, because if he stops buying me a Christmas ornament then that means my childhood is officially over and most days I feel like I’m still 18. After that day, I pulled a few more of my Tweety Bird ornaments out of their boxes and hung them on the tree.
December 9 – Something You’re Reading
I was pretty stumped on this photo for a while. I’m not reading anything these days. I love reading and wish I had more time to read, but these days it just doesn’t happen. I took a photo of the formula I feed Kenna daily because that’s about all I read. I told the hubby that I was a little disappointed with my photo for the day and he reminded me of what I do read. I read to Parker every single night before she goes to bed. How did I completely forget that? I guess I was thinking about me reading something for myself, but I love that he reminded me of what I do nightly. This photo is of Parker “reading” her Aladin book. These books are special because it comes with a little tablet that reads to you. It has a noise to turn the page and shapes at the top to tell you which button to push. I love that she loves books and hope her love for reading continues.
December 10 – Wrapping Paper
I loathe wrapping presents, but I always remember ripping through wrapping paper as a kid and how awesome it looked to see all the paper and boxes on the floor after all the presents were opened. Bags are super easy, but for some reason every year I have to wrap a few presents for the kids to rip open.
December 11 – Green
Yes, I put my baby in a box. I laughed so hard at this photo. Kenna’s face says it all, “Mom betrayed me and stuck me in a box for a picture.” She looks so sweet. Hehe.
December 12 – A Beautiful Sight
Parker loves her dog so much. Every night they sleep together and I love how patient Lexi is with Parker. I just happened to walk by them with my camera in hand. These two can’t be separated and it is such a beautiful sight seeing a girl and her dog together.
December 13 – Family
These two melt my heart. That is my momma and my baby. My beginning and my end.
Keep up with me and all the photos I post next week! XO!
Guess what time it is?! It’s photo challenge time! All December long I will be snapping pictures from a list of daily themes. Of course, it wouldn’t be my style if I wasn’t already a day behind in the challenge, so you get a two for one today!
December 1 – Your view today.
This isn’t my view all the time, sometimes you have to get on the floor and be at their level. These two are growing so fast and my maternity leave is almost up, so I treasure these moments.
December 2 – Favorite Holiday movie.
OH MY GOODNESS this is too difficult of a choice! I love so many Holiday movies, but I’m an old fashion classic girl. Give me Miracle on 34th street, It’s a Wonderful life, White Christmas, Scrooged, A Christmas Story, Frosty the Snowman. My list could go on and on.
If you’re interested in doing the challenge yourself here is the list! Good Luck and have fun with it! I know I will!
Good Morning All! I’m feeling a little tired this morning so please forgive any typing errors or sentences that might not peanut butter and gel together. I’ve been up since 3 AM with the newest addition to the Murphy Family. That’s right, my little Kenna Brooke Murphy is here! She was born September 30 at 3:47 PM, weighing in at 8 lbs., 8 oz. Yes, she was much larger than her sister who came in at a dainty 7 lbs., 1 oz., but the reason for my early morning post is to show you how beautiful my girls are and how blessed I am. There has been a lot going on with family and friends coming to visit, sleepless nights and adjusting to our new family of four that every time I look at my two girls I’m constantly reminded of how grateful I am and how blessed I feel. Kenna was the missing piece to completing my family. Now that I have two beautiful girls I feel at peace, happy and whole. I’m so in love. Here are a few pictures of Kenna and Parker.
Parker has been such a good big sister and I love how she loves Kenna.
